Garden Harvesting Begins…

After a late start, (because I hadn’t planned to start a garden at all!) we are finally starting to get some produce.  We are in NE Indiana, zone 5.  It isn’t much, but here’s what we’ve had the past few days:

Red Romaine lettuce, Slobolt lettuce and a couple hot banana peppers. There is some chives in there also.

Cilantro and hot banana peppers.

Red Romaine lettuce, Slobolt lettuce, spinach, mustard greens, and chives.

This isn’t counting the mint and oregano I picked and dried.  Again, it isn’t much but hopefully soon we’ll be in full swing. We’ll be having peas here before too long, several of the tomato plants have blossoms and the beans should be blossoming soon. A small garden, but every little bit helps.  We’ll be getting some fall plants going here soon…cabbage, broccoli, kale, spinach.  I may not end up planting the cabbage because quite a few of the local farmers grow and sell them cheap.  So I may end up doubling up on broccoli instead.  Still thinking about it.  Growing in small spaces takes planning.

Anyway, how is your garden doing so far?
